Moluccan Cockatoos for Sale

The Moluccan Cockatoo(also known as the Pink Fronted, Salmon Fronted, or Salmon Crested Cockatoo) is an amazingly beautiful bird that is affectionate and loves to cuddle. Though they’re known for being very clingy, and extremely loud if not trained correctly

The Moluccan Cockatoo from beak to tail is 20 inches. They tend to be a tinged pink or salmon color that is more prevalent on their chest and wings. They also have a black beak.

Moluccan Cockatoos are very loving and compassionate companion birds that love to snuggle and cuddle. This is an excellent quality in a companion bird, but Moluccan Cockatoos are also extremely demanding companion birds. They will go everywhere and do everything with you if able or given the opportunity. Moluccan Cockatoos are not great talkers but are extremely intelligent. They can be trained easily to do tricks and pick things up quickly. If not handled or appropriately trained, these personality traits can drastically change when they reach sexual maturity.

Moluccan Cockatoos are not for inexperienced or first-time bird owners. They need an owner who has plenty of time to spend with them.

They live 70 years, and some even older due to modern, healthier diets, exercise, and mental stimulation. Moluccan Cockatoos are not a parrot for first-time bird owners, and a lot of thought and consideration should go into the idea of getting one for a companion bird

Origin of Moluccan Cockatoo

The Moluccan Cockatoo is endemic to Seram and surrounding islands, which are located in the Indonesian archipelago, also known as the Moluccas or Spice Islands.

The Moluccan Cockatoos are very beautiful, intelligent, lovable, and affectionate birds. Moluccans are very aggressive chewers who need a steady supply of toys and perches to destroy. They have incredibly destructive beaks.

They have piercing, loud voices, which can carry for long distances. They tend to vocalize at least twice each day in the morning and evening and are not suited to either apartment dwelling or jointly spaces houses. Moluccans need roomy cages, exercise, and things to keep them busy and not bored. They are one of the species more prone to feather plucking. They can be taught many tricks, and some are very good talkers. In the early morning and late afternoon, they can be rather loud when they call their flock/family.

Moluccan Cockatoo As A Pet

If you are the right person to adopt a Moluccan Cockatoo, you may well find that you’ve made a friend for life. It can mimic human speech. It’s unusual in that the Moluccan Cockatoo is one of the few “lap birds” and acts more like a dog than a bird sometimes. A new Moluccan is better off in the wild.

Ideally, the well-behaved Moluccan is cuddly and whispers sweet nothings in your ears, preens your eyelashes lovingly and tenderly, is devoted to you and only you. At their worst, they may scream incessantly if not given enough attention, mental stimulation, or sleep. If you live in an apartment, don’t think of keeping a Moluccan cockatoo as a pet. It is too noisy to be held in an apartment.
